Month: February 2025

A Short Summary of Du’a 44  from Sahifa Sajjadiyyah

February 28, 2025 / editor
The Blessed Month of
Ramadhan is the Month of Allah. This attribution of the month to Allah was also mentioned by the Holy Prophet (s) in his famous Sha’baniyyah Sermon, “O people! Surely the Month of Allah, with all its blessings and mercy and opportunities of attaining forgiveness, has approached you.”
Just as objects require a clean every once in a while, the soul of a human being requires the same, as it becomes darkened by the effects of sin. Just as water is not only pure but also a purifier and cleans dirt off objects, this month is not only pure and blessed but also purifies the human soul and heart from sins and their effects when they fast and worship Allah (swt) in it.

An Excerpt from the Sermon of the Holy Prophet (saww) to welcome the Blessed Month of Ramadhan.

February 28, 2025 / editor
“O People! Indeed ahead of you is the blessed month of Allah. A month of blessing, mercy and forgiveness.
It is the best of months. Its days are the best of days, its nights the best of nights, and its hours are the best of hours. It is the month in which you are invited to be the guests of Allah (swt). The breath that you take during this month has the reward of tasbih and your sleep therein has the reward of worship. Guard
yourselves from the fire of hell by giving iftār even if it as little as half a date or just a glass of water.”

Last Days of the Blessed Month of Sha’bān

February 18, 2025 / editor
Abu Salt al-Harawi reports that he visited Imam ‘Ali al-Ridha (a) on the Last Friday of the Month of Sha’bān. The Imam (a) said to him, “O Aba Salt, the greater part of the month of Sha’bān has elapsed. Try to make up for the neglect of the past days of this month by compensating in what remains of it. Devote yourself to what is beneficial
for you. Supplicate a lot and plead for forgiveness. Recite the Holy Qur’an as much as you can and repent for your sins so that when the Blessed month of Ramadhan sets in, you will have purified yourself. Fear Allah and trust Him in everything. Let there remain no unpaid debt you owe anybody and no ill-feeling left in your heart against anyone ... Fear Allah and put your trust in Him …

Imam al-Mahdi (ajtf) in the Holy Qur’an – 2

February 18, 2025 / editor
“We will certainly test you with a touch of fear and famine and
loss of property, life and crops. Give good news to those who
patiently endure...” (Q2:155)
Muhammad ibn Muslim asked Imam Ja’far al-Sadiq (a) the meaning of this verse. Imam (a) replied, “All believers will be tested with something they fear from, high prices of things (food), dealing with corruption, making low profits, sudden deaths of near and dear ones, shortage of products … and give good news to those who patiently persevere. The good news here refers to the re-appearance of Imam al-Mahdi (ajtf).

Imam al-Mahdi (ajtf) in the Holy Qur’an – 1

February 18, 2025 / editor
Imam al-Sadiq (a) is reported to have said, “ The pious ones are the shias of Imam Ali (a) and the unseen is Imam al-Mahdi (ajtf). The proof of these words is seen in the verse below:
They ask, “ Why has no [other] sign been sent down to him from his Lord?” Say, [O Prophet] The knowledge of the unseen is with Allah alone. So wait! I too am waiting with you.” (Q10:20)

Lessons from Du’a 42 of Sahifa Sajjadiyya

February 3, 2025 / editor
The Qur’an can restore the health of those
who ponder over its messages. Imam al-Sajjad (a) describes it as a healing (shifā), because
it is a cure for all man’s inner sicknesses
of pride, hypocrisy and doubt. Blessings are not just assigned to the one
who recites the Qur’an; rather they are earned by pondering over its verses, obeying its injunctions and internalizing its message
so that a person becomes transformed.

Lessons we Learn from Hadhrat ‘Abbas (a)

February 3, 2025 / editor
Whenever we think about loyalty, the first person that comes to mind is Hadhrat ‘Abbas (a). When Imam al-Husayn (a) did not
allow him to go to the battlefield on the Day of Ashura, he did not complain. When he went to get water for the children, he did not drink the water from the river. This shows his loyalty to the Imam of the time.
Being brought up by Imam ‘Ali (a), Hadhrat Abbas (a) was
surrounded by love and respect for the Ahlulbayt (a). The love that Hadhrat ‘Abbas (a) and Imam al-Husayn (a) shared
was a reflection of how much Janabe Ummul Baneen (sa) loved Imam al-Husayn (a).
Mothers play a very important part in the upbringing of their children.

Similarities between Imam al-Husayn (a) and the Holy Qur’an

February 3, 2025 / editor
The Holy Qur’an encourages us to do good and forbids us from doing evil (Q3:104) Imam al-Husayn (a) said, “My purpose of going to
Karbala was encouraging good and forbidding evil.”
 The Holy Qur’an is a
guide for those who guard against evil, (Q2:2) Imam
al-Husayn (a) is also a guide for those who have taqwa.

Imam al-Husayn (a) Leaves Madina

February 3, 2025 / editor
As night fell, Imam al-Husayn (a) went to the Masjid of the Holy Prophet (s) to bid him farewell.
He stood in prayer for a long time. While he was in prostration, he fell into a light sleep, and he saw the Holy Prophet (saww). He said, “My dear son, You have a station in Paradise that cannot be attained except through martyrdom.”

What happened on Eid al Mab’ath?

February 3, 2025 / editor
The Holy Prophet (saww) received his first revelation from Allah (swt) The doors of the heavens opened and angels were sent down to the earth to celebrate his Prophethood.

The Exalted Status of Abu Talib (a)

February 3, 2025 / editor
Abu Talib, as Allah (swt) willed,
was the guardian of the Holy Prophet (saww) from when he was a small child. Abu Talib loved the Holy Prophet (s) just like his own son. He sacrificed his own life, wealth and status for him. He supported the
Prophet (s) for about 42 years and showed great bravery and sacrifice during the last ten years of his life . The only
factor which kept him so
steadfast was his strong faith and his pure belief in the sacred mission of the Prophet (s).

Advice of Imam Musa al-Kadhim (a)

February 3, 2025 / editor
O Hisham, beware of the
luxuries of this temporary world. It has been mentioned in Surah al-An’aam: “The life
of the world is nothing but play and diversion, and the abode of the Hereafter is surely
better for those who are God conscious. Why then don’t you use your intellect?” (Q6:32) If we use the life in this world as we ought to and accomplish the goals that Allah (swt) has
set for us, it becomes a
purposeful and meaningful life that helps us to reach eternal happiness in the Hereafter.
