The Holy Prophet (saww) is reported to have said, “Beautify the recitation of the Holy Qur’an with a pleasant voice.” (Wasa’il al-Shia Vol. 4 Pg. 859 H.6) When the Holy Qur’an is being recited, listen to it attentively and be silent, so that you may be shown mercy. (Q7:204) Imam al-Sadiq (a) is reported to have said, “When the Holy Qur’an is being recited, be quiet and listen to it attentively.” (Wasa’il al-Shia Vol 4 Pg. 861 H.4)
