Born on 21st March, 1940, Allama Syed Muhammad Baqir began his foundational religious education at Babul Ilm, Budgam, under the guidance of his elders. His quest for deeper knowledge led him to the Hawza ‘Ilmiyya of Najaf al-Ashraf in Iraq, one of the most prestigious centers of Shia Islamic learning. He spent years immersed in study and spiritual refinement before returning to Kashmir in 1982. He was the representative of Ayatullah Sistani in Kashmir. Allama Syed Muhammad Baqir was widely respected for his profound scholarship, spiritual depth, and firm ethical convictions. Fluent in Arabic, Persian, and Kashmiri, he was not only a scholar but also a poet, author, and orator, inspiring generations of students.
