Ayatullah Shaykh Mohsin Ali Najafi was born in 1938 in Baltistan, Pakistan. In 1966, he went to Najaf. He studied under Syed al-Khui, Ayatullah Syed Muhammad Baqir al-Sadr and other great scholars. He wrote many books, the most well-known among which was a commentary of the Holy Qur’an titled ‘al-Kawthar’ in 10 Volumes. Subsequently, he wrote a summary of this commentary in one volume. He was fluent in Urdu, Arabic, Farsi and Punjabi. He was a representative of Ayatullah Sistani in Pakistan.
