Allama Syed Muhammad Baqir Kashmiri

Born on 21st March, 1940, Allama Syed Muhammad Baqir began his foundational religious education at Babul Ilm, Budgam, under the guidance of his elders. His quest for deeper knowledge led him to the Hawza ‘Ilmiyya of Najaf al-Ashraf in Iraq, one of the most prestigious centers of Shia Islamic learning. He spent years immersed in study and spiritual refinement before returning to Kashmir in 1982. He was the representative of Ayatullah Sistani in Kashmir. 
Allama Syed Muhammad Baqir was widely respected for his profound scholarship, spiritual depth, and firm ethical convictions. Fluent in Arabic, Persian, and Kashmiri, he was not only a scholar but also a poet, author, and orator, inspiring generations of students.

Remembering Ayatullah Syed Khui

Ayatullah Syed Abul Qasim Khui was born on 19th November 1899 and passed away on 
8th August  1992 (8th Safar 1413). He was born 
in Khui and grew up in Iran. He later moved to Najaf. After the death of Ayatullah Syed Mohsin Hakim in 1971, he became the next Marja’e taqlid. He had millions among the Shi’a who were doing his taqlid. 
Shaheed al-Sadr, Ayatullah Wahid Khurasani 
and Ayatullah Syed Ali al-Sistani were among 
his students. He lived for about 93 years and passed away in Najaf. His funeral prayers were led by Ayatullah Syed Ali al-Sistani.

Ayatullah Syed Muhammad Husayn Langarudi

Ayatullah Syed Muhammad Husayn Langarudi was born on 23rd Safar 1345 AH in the Holy City of Najaf. A few years later, he moved to Tehran. 
He was a student of Syed al-Khui, Allama Tabataba’i, Imam Khomeini and other great scholars. He was a well-known Faqih and teacher of Akhlaq (Islamic Ethics). He taught in the Hawzah in Tehran for many years. He was also the Imam of Jama’at in Masjid Hajj Abu al-Fath in Tehran for about 30 years. He passed away on Monday 2nd Rabi’al-Awwal 1445. 
His funeral took place on Thursday 5th Rabi’ al-Awwal 1445. Many students and scholars attended his funeral. His body was then taken to Najaf for burial.

Ayatullah Sayyid Kadhim Irfā’

Ayatullah Syed Kadhim Irfā’ was born in 1944 (1363 AH) in Tehran. He was a well-known teacher of Akhlaq (Islamic Ethics) in the Hawza Ilmiyyah in Tehran and has penned more than 50 books on a variety of different subjects. Some of his books are: a translation of the Holy Qur’an, a simple translation of Nahjul Balagha, and a translation of Sahifa Sajjadiyya, among others.
He passed away on Wednesday 25th Rabi’al-Awwal 1445 AH (11th October 2023) in Tehran. Rahbar and many other great scholars sent their condolences.  He was buried on Friday morning. Many students and scholars attended his funeral.

Remembering Ayatullah Misbah Yazdi

Isaale Sawaab majlis (3 years of his passing away) was held in the Haram of Janabe Fatimah Ma’sumah (sa) in Qum. [Thursday night 28/12/2023]
He studied in Qum under Allama Tabataba’i, Ayatullah Bahjat, Imam Khomeini and other renowned scholars. He wrote many books on Aqa’id, the Holy Qur’an and Islamic Philosophy. One important book that he wrote was Self-Recognition for Self-Improvement. 
He passed away in Tehran and was buried in the Haram of Janabe Fatimah Ma’sumah (sa) Qum.

Shaheed Syed Muhammad Baqir al-Sadr

Syed Muhammad Baqir al-Sadr was born on 1st March  1935 in Kadhimiyya and was martyred on 9th April 1980
 in Baghdad. He is buried in Wadi 
al-Salaam in Najaf. 
At the age of 25, he started teaching at the level of Ijtihad. Truly a great achievement! Not only was he a Mujtahid himself, but he was teaching other scholars to become Mujtahids.

Ayatullah Syed Muhammad Ridha Husayni Jalali

Ayatullah Syed Muhammad Ridha Husayni Jalali was born in Holy city of Karbala in 1365AH and passed away a few days ago. In 1384AH, he moved to Najaf and studied under Syed al-Khui and other great scholars. He then migrated to Qum in 1400AH. 
He was a distinguished scholar, researcher, author and teacher who dedicated his life to the pursuit of Islamic knowledge. His scholarly contributions include editing manuscripts, compilation, and authorship of numerous works. 
His funeral was held in Masjid Imam Hasan al-Askari  (a) in the Holy city of Qum and then proceeded to the Haram of Janabe Fatimah Ma’sumah (sa). His body was then transferred to Iraq for burial. 
May Allah (swt) raise his status in Jannah. Āmīn.

Ayatullah Shaykh Ghulam Ridha Salawāti

Ayatullah Shaykh Ghulam Ridha Salawāti was one of the renown teachers in the Hawza Ilmiyyah in the Holy city of Qum. He had very good akhlaq and treated everyone with a lot of respect. He studied under many scholars and even attended Dars al-Kharij of Ayatullah Muhammad Ridha Gulpaygani. He passed away on Friday 6th Rabi’ al-Awwal 1445 and was buried the next day. Rahbar and many other great scholars sent their condolences. 
His funeral took place in the Haram of Janabe Fatimah Ma’sumah (sa). Ayatullah Ja’far Subhani led the prayers. 
May Allah (swt) raise his status in Jannah. Āmīn.

Ayatullah Syed Muhammad Mahdi Khersān

Ayatullah Syed Muhammad Mahdi Khersān was born on 9th Rajab 1347 AH in Najaf. It has been reported that when he was very young, he learnt the Holy Qur’an from his mother. 
Their house was a center of knowledge. He got his interest for religious studies from his father, Syed Hasan Khersān, who used to have classes for students daily [for about 13 years] at their house in the evenings. 
He was a student of Syed Mohsin al-Hakim, Syed al-Khui and many others. He has compiled and written many books. One of his books, 21 volumes about Ibn Abbas (the cousin of the Holy Prophet (saww)) earned him an award for his astounding efforts.

Shaheed Ayatullah Syed Ibrahim Raisi

Shaheed Ayatullah Ibrahim Raisi was born in Mashhad. When he was about 5 years old, his father passed away. He lived in a simple house in a simple neighborhood. Greatness is only achieved from humble beginnings. 
Syed Hasan Nasrullah, Ayatullah Sistani, and many other great scholars sent their condolences. 
His elderly mother is still alive (about 90 years old). He had 2 daughters and 5 grandchildren. Whenever he would visit Qum, he would visit the great scholars and take advice from them. Some of them would consider him their son. 
On the Wiladah of Imam al-Ridha (a) he was elected as the President, exactly 3 years later, he responded to the call of his Lord. May Allah (swt) raise his status in Jannah. Āmīn.

Allama Shaykh Ali Kurani

Allama Shaykh Ali Kurani was born in 1944 (1363 AH) in Lebanon. He studied under Syed Mohsin al-Hakim, Syed Khui, Shaheed Sadr, and many other prominent scholars. His most important research was on Imam 
al-Mahdi (ajtf). He was a prolific author and wrote a number of books which are freely available on his website https://www.alameli.net/
He passed away on Sunday 19th May 2024 in Qum. Rahbar, Ayatullah Sistani and many other great scholars sent their condolences.  His funeral prayers were held in Masjid Imam Hasan al-Askari (a).  Syed Ali Milani led the prayers. His body was then transferred to Lebanon for burial.

Ayatullah Shaykh Mohsin Ali Najafi

Ayatullah Shaykh Mohsin Ali Najafi was born in 1938 in Baltistan, Pakistan. In 1966, he went to Najaf. 
He studied under Syed al-Khui, Ayatullah Syed Muhammad Baqir al-Sadr and other great scholars. He wrote many books, the most well-known among which was a commentary of the Holy Qur’an titled ‘al-Kawthar’ in 10 Volumes. Subsequently, he wrote a summary of this commentary in one volume. He was fluent in Urdu, Arabic, Farsi and Punjabi. He was a representative of Ayatullah Sistani in Pakistan.

Remembering Allamah Tabataba’i

Allamah Sayyid Muhammad Husayn Tabataba’i was born in Tabriz on 29th Dhil Hijjah 1321 AH / 16th March 1904. When he was five years old, his mother passed away  while giving birth to his younger brother, Sayyid Muhammad Hasan. A few years later, his father also passed away. Allamah Tabataba’i came from a family of learned and pious scholars. 
He would recite a few verses from the Holy Qur’an before going to sleep at night so that he could go to sleep with the illumination of these blessed verses.  
He passed away on 15th November 1981 at the age of 
77 years and is buried in the Haram of Janabe Fatimah Ma’sumah (sa) in the Holy city of Qum. May Allah (swt) raise his status in Jannah. Āmīn.

Ayatullah Syed Ali Ba’aj

Ayatullah Syed Ali Ba’aj was born in 1341 AH. He was a student of Syed al-Khui. He was one of the esteemed scholars of Iraq especially in the Hawza Ilmiyya of Najaf.

Ayatullah Muhammad Reyshahri

Ayatullah Reyshari was born in the City of Rey, Iran. He was the head of Dar-al-Hadith. Many books of hadith have been written under his guidance such as ‘Mizan al-Hikmah’ and ‘Children in the Holy Qur’an and Sunnah’

Ayatullah Syed Mujtaba Rudbaari

Ayatullah Syed Mujtaba Rudbaari was born in Rasht, Iran. He was a very pious and humble scholar. He studied under Ayatullah Burujerdi, Ayatullah Syed al-Khui, Imam Khomeini and others. He was the founder of Amir al-Mu’mineen Library in Gilan, Iran  He passed away on Tuesday 22nd March 2022 in Rasht, at the age of 89 years, and will be buried on Thursday 24th March 2022. Ayatullah Syed 
al-Sistani, Ayatullah Makarem Shirazi and other great scholars sent their condolences.  May Allah (swt) raise his status in Jannah.  Āmīn.

Ayatullah Syed Alavi Gorgani

Ayatullah Syed Alavi Gorgani was born in Najaf, Iraq. He studied under Ayatullah Burujerdi, Ayatullah Syed al-Khui, Imam Khomeini and others.  He passed away on Tuesday 15th March 2022 in the Holy city of Qum and was buried in the Haram of Janabe Fatimah Ma’sumah (sa).  His funeral prayers were led by Ayatullah Nuri Hamadani. Syed Ali Khamenei Ayatullah Syed al-Sistani and other great scholars sent their condolences.  May Allah (swt) raise his status in Paradise. Ameen.

Ayatullah Sayyid Hussein Burujerdi

He was a great Marja’ and attained  Ijtihad at the young age of 28. Some of his students were Imam Khomeini, Ayatullah Wahid Khurasani, Syed Ali Khameini, Syed Ali Sistani and many others. 
 It has been narrated that he had made a vow (nadhr) that if he ever uttered inappropriate words when angry, he would fast for a whole year (to train his soul).

Ayatullah Syed Abdullah Fateminiyya

Once, he mentioned a very important point in one of his lectures: ‘Going for Ziyaarat has conditions: whenever we return (back home) we must give up one bad habit and inculcate one good one.’ Once a lady went to him and proudly exclaimed, ‘I have been for the Ziyaarat of the Holy Prophet (s) 20 times. Isn’t that a lofty status? He questioned, “Have you removed 20 bad habits and inculcated 20 good ones in yourself?’ “No,” she replied. He further added, “Then there is no difference between you and the person who hasn’t performed the Ziyaarat  of the Holy Prophet (s).’

Ayatullah Ibrahim Amini

 Ayatullah Ibrahim Amini wrote many books. Some of his published works are, ‘The Ideal woman in Islam’, ‘Spouse Selection’, ‘Self Building’ and ‘Introduction to Islamic Studies 
(7 Volumes)’.
He passed away on 25th April 2020 and is buried in the Haram of Janabe Fatimah Ma’sumah (sa) Qum.

Imam Ali (a) is reported to have said, "Verily the friends of Allah are those who remember Him the most, are constantly grateful to Him and have greater patience in the face of His trials."
